Compressor wheel inspection

1.  Remove the turbocharger with variable turbine geometry. (See TURBOCHARGER WITH VARIABLE TURBINE GEOMETRY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

2.  Visually inspect all of the compressor wheel wings for breakage, damage or bending.

•  If there is bending or damage, replace the variable geometry turbocharger. (See TURBOCHARGER WITH VARIABLE TURBINE GEOMETRY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)
Note
•  If the compressor wheel has contacted the compressor housing, several of the wing ends may have broken, as well as damage or bending may have occurred.
•  If there are broken wings, damage or bending in the compressor wheel, verify the following after replacing the variable geometry turbocharger.
―  Intake/exhaust system related parts
―  Oil pipe damage


Turbine wheel inspection

1.  Remove the turbocharger with variable turbine geometry. (See TURBOCHARGER WITH VARIABLE TURBINE GEOMETRY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

2.  Visually inspect all of the turbine wheel wings for breakage, damage or bending.

•  If there is bending or damage, replace the variable geometry turbocharger. (See TURBOCHARGER WITH VARIABLE TURBINE GEOMETRY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)
