Resistance inspection

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

2.  Remove the wastegate solenoid valve. (See WASTEGATE SOLENOID VALVE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

3.  Measure resistance between wastegate solenoid valve terminals A and B.

Wastegate solenoid valve resistance (specification)
9.8—11.2 ohms [20 °C {68 °F}]
•  If not within the specification, replace the wastegate solenoid valve. (See WASTEGATE SOLENOID VALVE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

Airflow Inspection

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

2.  Remove the wastegate solenoid valve. (See WASTEGATE SOLENOID VALVE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

3.  Inspect airflow between the ports under the following conditions.

Caution
•  If Mityvac is used to apply positive pressure to the port, the pressure may increase excessively and correct determination may not be possible. Inspect the airflow by directly blowing air with your mouth using a rubber hose inserted into the port.
•  When verifying the airflow by blowing air with your mouth into the port, be careful not to accidentally breathe in air.

Measured condition*1

Continuity between ports

While covering port A, apply pressure to port B
No airflow between ports B and C*2

*1  :Whether or not there is continuity between terminals A and B, the airflow condition listed in the table is always normal.
*2  :When the pressure of the air being blown from your mouth is too high, slight airflow may be detected.
•  If not as specified, replace the wastegate solenoid valve. (See WASTEGATE SOLENOID VALVE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

PID/DATA Monitor Inspection

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

2.  Remove the battery and the battery tray. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

3.  Disconnect wastegate solenoid valve vacuum hose No. 2. (See WASTEGATE SOLENOID VALVE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

Note
•  Operate the wastegate solenoid valve and verify that there is airflow between the vacuum pump and wastegate solenoid valve actuator. If a hose is inserted into the vacuum hose No. 2 installation position, use a hose of an appropriate length in the engine compartment to help facilitate the procedure.

4.  Insert the hose into the wastegate solenoid valve vacuum hose No. 2 insertion position.

5.  Install the battery and battery tray. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

6.  Connect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

7.  Start the engine.

8.  Using the M-MDS, display the simulation item WGV. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

9.  Verify that there is vacuum in the hose inserted into the wastegate solenoid valve when the simulation item WGV is On.

•  If vacuum cannot be verified, replace the wastegate solenoid valve. (See WASTEGATE SOLENOID VALVE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)
