Warning
•  Fuel is highly flammable and dangerous. Fuel line spills and leakage can cause serious injury or death, and damage to equipment. If fuel comes into contact with the skin and eyes it will cause irritation. Always complete the “Fuel Hose Installation Procedure” when installing the fuel hose. (See Fuel Hose Installation Procedure.)
•  A person charged with static electricity could cause a fire or explosion, resulting in death or serious injury. Before servicing the fuel system, make sure to discharge static electricity by touching a vehicle.

Fuel Line Air Bleeding

1.  Verify that the fuel hose which has been serviced is connected securely.

Caution
•  Prolonged cranking may damage the battery and the starter. To prevent this, continuously crank the engine for only a maximum of 10 s.

2.  Crank the engine until it starts.

•  If the engine starts, verify that it does not stop during a period of 20 to 30 s.
―  If the engine does not stop, the procedure is completed.
―  If the engine stops, go to the next step.
•  If the engine does not start, go to the next step.
Note
•  If the fuel filter is replaced with a new one, air will penetrate the fuel system because the fuel is syphoned through the filter paper in the filter. As a result, fuel is not supplied normally, and even if the engine starts, it will stop afterwards. In this case, cranking the engine several times (approx. 10 s intervals) will restore normal fuel supply and the engine can be started.

3.  Wait for 20 s.

Caution
•  Prolonged cranking may damage the battery and the starter. To prevent this, continuously crank the engine for only a maximum of 10 s.

4.  Crank the engine until it starts.

•  If the engine starts, the procedure is completed.
•  If the engine does not start, go to the next step.

5.  Remove the blind cap.

7.  Drain fuel until the air is bled out.

8.  Remove the vacuum pump and install the blind cap. (See Blind Cap Installation Note.)

Caution
•  Prolonged cranking may damage the battery and the starter. To prevent this, continuously crank the engine for only a maximum of 10 s.

9.  Crank the engine until it starts.

•  If the engine starts, the procedure is completed.
•  If the engine does not start, return to Step 5.

Fuel Hose Installation Procedure
