DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL

1. Switch the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [MZR 1.6].)(See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 1.5, SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5].)(See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)(See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)
3. Lower the steering wheel to the bottommost position.
4. Pull the steering wheel to furthest position rearward.
5. Verify the service hole on the back side of the steering wheel.

6. Insert the tool from the service hole.

7. Insert the tool in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and disengage driver-side air bag module tab A from steering wheel hook A.

8. Rotate the steering wheel until the service hole can be seen from behind the steering wheel.

9. Insert the tool from the service hole.
|
10. Insert the tool in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and disengage driver-side air bag module tab B from steering wheel hook B.

11. Rotate the steering wheel until the service hole can be seen from behind the steering wheel.

12. Insert the tool from the service hole.
|
13. Insert the tool in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and disengage driver-side air bag module tab C from steering wheel hook C.

14. Remove the air bag module from the steering wheel.
15. Using a flathead screwdriver, lift the locking device carefully, however do not remove it.

16. Disconnect the air bag module connector.
17. Disconnect the horn switch connector.
18. Remove the driver-side air bag module.
