Description

CD player or DVD/CD player disc read error

Detection condition
•  With the ignition switched ON (engine off or on), the connectivity master unit (CMU) detects a disc read error.
Fail-safe function
Eject a disc.
Possible cause
Caution
•  An unexpected load is applied to the CD player or DVD/CD player causing the output of a DTC due to the way the user uses the CD player or DVD/CD player, such as intentionally holding onto a disc when inserting it. The orientation of the disc should be checked before inserting it and it should be released from the fingers as soon as the disc begins to be read.
•  Disc malfunction or malfunction due to customer use method
―  Disc insertion direction mistaken
―  Disc scratched or dirty
―  Use of incompatible disc
•  CD player or DVD/CD player internal malfunction

VERIFY IF MALFUNCTIONING LOCATION IS DISC
•  After obtaining the customer's consent, insert a disc that was not used when the malfunction occurred into the CD player or DVD/CD player.
•  Does the disc play normally?
Yes
System is normal. (Explain to the customer that there is a malfunction in the disc or malfunction due to the customer use method.)
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT CD PLAYER OR DVD/CD PLAYER
•  Clear the DTC for the connectivity master unit (CMU) using the M-MDS.
•  Perform diagnostic assist code “01” CD player or DVD/CD player inspection.
•  Perform the DTC inspection for the connectivity master unit (CMU) using the M-MDS.
•  Is the same DTC displayed?
Yes
Replace the CD player or DVD/CD player, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY OTHER DTCs
•  Are any other DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
