REAR SPOILER REMOVAL

Warning

•  Using a utility knife with bare hands can cause injury. Always wear gloves when using a utility knife.

1.  Remove the trunk lid recess. (See TRUNK LID RECESS REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

2.  Remove the trunk lid trim. (See TRUNK LID TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3.  Remove the bolts shown in the figure.

Caution

•  Be careful not to damage the vehicle’s paint during tape removal.

4.  Using a utility knife, carefully remove the double-sided adhesive tape in the locations shown below.

5.  While holding the rear spoiler by hand, press the tabs of the clips in the direction of the arrows shown in the figure, and disengage the clips from the trunk lid in the order of (1), (2), and (3).

6.  Remove the rear spoiler from the trunk lid.

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [MZR 1.6].) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 1.5, SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5].) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)(See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

2.  Remove the liftgate upper trim. (See LIFTGATE UPPER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3.  Disconnect the high-mount brake light connector and remove the wiring harness from the hook.

4.  Remove the caps and nuts shown in the figure.

5.  Insert a remover tool in the position shown in the figure.

6.  Move the remover tool in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and disengage the side spoilers from the liftgate T-studs.

7.  Insert a remover tool in the position shown in the figure.

8.  Move the remover tool in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and disengage the side spoiler clip from the liftgate.

9.  Pull the rear spoiler in the direction of the arrows and remove it while detaching the pins.

10.  While holding the rear spoiler by hand, press the tabs of the grommet from the underside of the liftgate shown in the figure, and disengage the grommet tabs from the liftgate.

11.  Remove the rear spoiler while pulling out the wiring harness.

12.  Insert a remover tool into the position shown in the figure, move it in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure, and remove the side spoiler from the rear spoiler.
