EGR cooler bypass valve full closing angle malfunction

DETECTION CONDITION
•  EGR cooler bypass valve position sensor signal voltage is 1.3 V or more, or 0.65 V or less with the ignition switched off and EGR cooler bypass valve fully closed.
•  Power supply voltage is 11.5 V or less, or 14.5 V or more, or fluctuation in voltage is 5 V or more when the specified time has elapsed since the ignition was switched off.
•  Difference between EGR cooler bypass valve fully-closed throttle voltage and current fully-closed throttle voltage exceeds 0.13 V
MONITORING CONDITIONS
―  Engine coolant temperature: 70 °C {158 °F} or more
Diagnostic support note
•  This is a continuous monitor (other).
•  The check engine light does not illuminate.
•  FREEZE FRAME DATA (Mode 2)/Snapshot data is not available.
•  DTC is not stored in the PCM memory.
FAIL-SAFE FUNCTION
Not applicable
POSSIBLE CAUSE
•  EGR cooler bypass valve/EGR cooler bypass valve position sensor connector or terminals malfunction
•  PCM connector or terminals malfunction
•  EGR cooler bypass valve sticking, or foreign matter penetration
•  EGR cooler bypass valve position sensor malfunction
•  PCM malfunction

VERIFY RELATED SERVICE INFORMATION AVAILABILITY
•  Verify related Service Information availability.
•  Is any related Service Information available?
Yes
Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available Service Information.
•  If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
2
VERIFY RELATED PENDING CODE AND/OR DTC
•  Switch the ignition off, then ON (engine off).
•  Perform the Pending Trouble Code Access Procedure and DTC Reading Procedure.
•  Are any other PENDING CODEs and/or DTCs present?
Yes
Go to the applicable PENDING CODE or DTC inspection.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT EGR COOLER BYPASS VALVE/EGR COOLER BYPASS VALVE POSITION SENSOR CONNECTOR CONDITION
•  Switch the ignition off.
•  Disconnect the EGR cooler bypass valve/EGR cooler bypass valve position sensor connector.
•  Inspect for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out pins, corrosion).
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector and/or terminals, then go to Step 7.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT PCM CONNECTOR CONDITION
•  Disconnect the PCM connector.
•  Inspect for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out pins, corrosion).
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector and/or terminals, then go to Step 7.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT EGR COOLER BYPASS VALVE
•  Inspect the EGR cooler bypass valve.
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Replace the EGR cooler bypass valve, then go to Step 7.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT EGR COOLER BYPASS VALVE POSITION SENSOR
•  Reconnect all disconnected connectors.
•  Inspect the EGR cooler bypass valve position sensor.
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Replace the EGR cooler bypass valve, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
7
VERIFY DTC TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
•  Always reconnect all disconnected connectors.
•  Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS.
•  Start the engine and warm it up completely.
•  Switch the ignition to off and wait for 10 s or more.
•  Perform the DTC Reading Procedure.
•  Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the PCM.
Go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
8
VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE
•  Perform the “AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE”.
•  Are any DTCs present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
