GLOW PLUG REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5]

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)
2. Remove the engine cover. (See ENGINE COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)
3. Remove the EGR pipe. (See EGR PIPE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)
4. Remove the wiring harness clips and the generator connector shown in the figure.

5. Set the water-cooled charge air cooler reserve tank aside so that it does not interfere with the servicing. (See WATER-COOLED CHARGE AIR COOLER RESERVE TANK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)
6. Remove in the order shown in the figure.
7. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Glow Plug Removal Note
1. Loosen the glow plug using the tool until the thread is held by one thread, loosen it by hand, and then remove it.
Cleaning Before Glow Plug Installation
1. Wrap the drill (5.0—5.2 mm {0.197—0.204 in} and 5.2—5.4 mm {0.205—0.212 in} drill bit) from the end to the 119—121 mm {4.69—4.76 in} position with tape.

2. Press the drill (5.0—5.2 mm {0.197—0.204 in} drill bit) until the wrapped part is inserted completely.

3. Rotate the drill by hand and remove the carbon from the glow plug installation hole.
4. Perform Steps 2 and 3 using a drill (5.2—5.4 mm {0.205—0.212 in} drill bit).
Glow Plug Installation Note
1. Tighten the glow plug by hand until the thread is installed to one thread and tighten it using the tool.
Glow Plug Short-cord Installation Note

1. Insert the glow plug short-cord until its tip attaches to the lock part of the glow plug.
2. Insert the glow plug short-cord until the glow plug contacts the bottom of the glow plug short-cord.
