Airflow Inspection


Turbocharger side

1.  Remove the check valve (turbocharger side). (See CHECK VALVE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

2.  Verify that there is airflow through port B when pressure is applied from port A.

•  If there is no airflow, replace the check valve (turbocharger side). (See CHECK VALVE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

3.  Verify that there is no airflow through port A when pressure is applied from port B.

•  If there is airflow, replace the check valve (turbocharger side). (See CHECK VALVE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)


Vacuum pump side

1.  Remove the vacuum hose. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

2.  Blow air into the vacuum hose using your mouth from the power brake unit side and verify that the air flows to the vacuum pump side, then blow air from the vacuum pump side and verify that the air does not flow to the power brake unit side.

•  If there is any malfunction in the check valve (vacuum pump side), replace it with the vacuum hose as a single unit. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)
