Detection condition
•  Instrument cluster receives error signals from the vehicle control module (V/C-module) for 1 s or more with the ignition switched ON (engine off or on).

•  DTCs are stored in the vehicle control module (V/C-module).
•  Vehicle control module (V/C-module) malfunction
•  Instrument cluster malfunction

VERIFY VEHICLE CONTROL MODULE (V/C-MODULE) DTCs
•  Retrieve the vehicle control module (V/C-module) DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Are any DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
Go to the next step.

PERFORM DTC INSPECTION AND VERIFY VEHICLE CONTROL MODULE (V/C-MODULE) MALFUNCTION
•  Clear the DTC for the instrument cluster using the M-MDS.
•  Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and wait for 20 s or more.
•  Retrieve the instrument cluster DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Is the same DTC displayed?
Yes
Replace the vehicle control module (V/C-module), then go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 4.

VERIFY THAT REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED
•  Clear the DTC for the instrument cluster using the M-MDS.
•  Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and wait for 20 s or more.
•  Retrieve the instrument cluster DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Is the same DTC displayed?
Yes
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the instrument cluster.
Go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED
•  Are any other DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
