Detection condition

•  Instrument cluster receives error signals from the vehicle control module (V/C-module) for 1 s or more with the ignition switched ON (engine off or on).

Diagnostic Procedure

Step	Inspection		Action
1	VERIFY VEHICLE CONTROL MODULE (V/C-MODULE) DTCs • Retrieve the vehicle control module (V/C-module) DTCs using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [VEHICLE CONTROL MODULE (V/C-MODULE)].) • Are any DTCs displayed?	Yes	Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting. (See DTC TABLE [VEHICLE CONTROL MODULE (V/C-MODULE)].)
1		No	Go to the next step.
2	PERFORM DTC INSPECTION AND VERIFY VEHICLE CONTROL MODULE (V/C-MODULE) MALFUNCTION • Clear the DTC for the instrument cluster using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [INSTRUMENT CLUSTER].) • Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and wait for 20 s or more. • Retrieve the instrument cluster DTCs using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [INSTRUMENT CLUSTER].) • Is the same DTC displayed?	Yes	Replace the vehicle control module (V/C-module), then go to the next step. (See VEHICLE CONTROL MODULE (V/C-MODULE) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MAZDA RADAR CRUISE CONTROL (MRCC) SYSTEM].)
2		No	Go to Step 4.
3	VERIFY THAT REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED • Clear the DTC for the instrument cluster using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [INSTRUMENT CLUSTER].) • Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and wait for 20 s or more. • Retrieve the instrument cluster DTCs using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [INSTRUMENT CLUSTER].) • Is the same DTC displayed?	Yes	Repeat the inspection from Step 1. • If the malfunction recurs, replace the instrument cluster. (See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.) Go to the next step.
3		No	Go to the next step.
4	VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED • Are any other DTCs displayed?	Yes	Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting. (See DTC TABLE [INSTRUMENT CLUSTER].)
4		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
