HEADLIGHT BULB REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Without Discharge Headlight System

Headlight LO bulb (LH)

1.  Turn the steering wheel to the right until it locks.

2.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [MZR 1.6].) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 1.5, SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5].) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)(See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

3.  Partially peel back the front mudguard (LH). (See MUDGUARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Disconnect the connector.

5.  Turn the headlight LO bulb counterclockwise and remove it in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure.

Caution

•  The bulb reaches high temperatures when illuminated. If there is oil or dirt on the surface of the bulb, excessive heat will build up and the life of the bulb will be shortened. When replacing the bulb, hold the metal flange, not the glass.

6.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

Headlight LO bulb (RH) (MZR 1.6, SKYACTIV-G 1.5, SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5)

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [MZR 1.6].) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 1.5, SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5].)

2.  Disconnect the connector.

3.  Turn the headlight LO bulb counterclockwise and remove it in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure.

Caution

•  The bulb reaches high temperatures when illuminated. If there is oil or dirt on the surface of the bulb, excessive heat will build up and the life of the bulb will be shortened. When replacing the bulb, hold the metal flange, not the glass.

4.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

Headlight LO bulb (RH) (SKYACTIV-D 1.5,SKYACTIV-D 2.2)

1.  Turn the steering wheel to the left until it locks.

2.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

3.  Partially peel back the front mudguard (RH). (See MUDGUARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Disconnect the connector.

5.  Turn the headlight LO bulb counterclockwise and remove it in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure.

6.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

Headlight HI bulb (without running light system)

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [MZR 1.6].) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 1.5, SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5].) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

2.  Disconnect the connector.

3.  Turn the headlight HI bulb counterclockwise and remove it in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure.

Caution

4.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

Headlight HI bulb (with running light system)

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [MZR 1.6].) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 1.5, SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5].) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

2.  Turn the cover counterclockwise and remove it in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure.

3.  Turn the headlight HI bulb counterclockwise to disconnect the connector.

4.  Remove the headlight HI bulb.

Caution

•  The bulb reaches high temperatures when illuminated. If there is oil or dirt on the surface of the bulb, excessive heat will build up and the life of the bulb will be shortened. When replacing the bulb, hold the metal flange, not the glass.

5.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

With Discharge Headlight System

Warning

•  Incorrect servicing of the discharge headlights could result in electrical shock. Before servicing the discharge headlights, always refer to the service warnings. (See DISCHARGE HEADLIGHT SERVICE WARNINGS.)

Headlight HI/LO bulb (LH)

1.  Turn the steering wheel to the right until it locks.

2.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [MZR 1.6].) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 1.5, SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5].) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

3.  Partially peel back the front mudguard (LH). (See MUDGUARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Remove the igniter (LH). (See IGNITER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

5.  Move the headlight HI/LO bulb retaining wires in the direction of arrows (1) shown in the figure, pull them in the direction of arrow (2), and disconnect the headlight HI/LO bulb retaining wires from the reflector.

6.  Remove the headlight HI/LO bulb.

7.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

Headlight HI/LO bulb (RH) (MZR 1.6, SKYACTIV-G 1.5, SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5)

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [MZR 1.6].) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 1.5, SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5].)

2.  Remove the igniter (RH). (See IGNITER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3.  Move the headlight HI/LO bulb retaining wires in the direction of arrows (1) shown in the figure, pull them in the direction of arrow (2), and disconnect the headlight HI/LO bulb retaining wires from the reflector.

4.  Remove the headlight HI/LO bulb.

Caution

5.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

Headlight HI/LO bulb (RH) (SKYACTIV-D 1.5, SKYACTIV-D 2.2)

1.  Turn the steering wheel to the left until it locks.

2.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

3.  Partially peel back the front mudguard (RH). (See MUDGUARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Remove the igniter (RH). (See IGNITER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

5.  Move the headlight HI/LO bulb retaining wires in the direction of arrows (1) shown in the figure, pull them in the direction of arrow (2), and disconnect the headlight HI/LO bulb retaining wires from the reflector.
