Brake switch malfunction

Detection condition
•  The vehicle control module (V/C-module) detects that the brake switch signal and the brake fluid pressure value are incompatible.
Fail-safe
•  Inhibits the mazda radar cruise control (MRCC) system control
•  Inhibits the smart brake support (SBS) system control
Possible cause
•  Brake switch malfunction
•  Malfunction in circuit between brake switch and PCM and PCM
•  DSC HU/CM malfunction
•  Signal error in circuit between PCM and vehicle control module (V/C-module)
•  Signal error in circuit between DSC HU/CM and vehicle control module (V/C-module)
•  Vehicle control module (V/C-module) malfunction

INSPECT BRAKE SWITCH
•  Inspect the brake switch.
•  Is it normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the brake switch, then go to the Step 4.

PERFORM DTC INSPECTION FOR PCM
•  Are any DTCs present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
Then go to Step 4.
No
Go to the next step.

PERFORM DTC INSPECTION FOR DSC HU/CM
•  Perform the DSC HU/CM DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
•  Are any DTCs present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
Then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
4
VERIFY THAT REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED
•  Clear vehicle control module (V/C-module) DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Switch the ignition ON (engine on).
•  Drive the vehicle at 40 km/h (25 mph) or more for 3 min or more.
•  Perform the vehicle control module (V/C-module) DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
•  Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the vehicle control module (V/C-module).
Go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
5
VERIFY THAT NO OTHER DTCs ARE PRESENT
•  Verify other DTCs displayed.
•  Are any other DTCs output?
Yes
Perform the corresponding DTC inspection.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
