DTC P2262:00

Small-type turbocharger area control system: turbocharger malfunction

DETECTION CONDITION
•  The PCM detects that the boost pressure is low even though the exhaust gas pressure is high while the boost control is performed using the small-type turbocharger.
FAIL-SAFE FUNCTION
•  Fully open the Regulating solenoid valve.
•  Inhibits the auto diesel particulate filter regeneration control.
•  Inhibits the compulsory diesel particulate filter regeneration control.
•  Inhibits the EGR control.
•  Inhibits engine-stop by i-stop control.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
•  Exhaust gas pressure sensor No.1 malfunction
•  MAP sensor No.2 malfunction
•  Compressor bypass valve malfunction
―  Compressor bypass valve fell off
•  Small-type turbocharger malfunction
―  Turbine blade or compressor blade damage
―  Runout, loss, or sticking due to turbine axis wear
•  Exhaust system clogged
―  Diesel particulate filter clogged (damage, burnt out)
―  Clogging caused by freezing
•  PCM malfunction

Diagnostic Procedure

Step

Inspection

Results

Action

1
RECORD VEHICLE STATUS WHEN DTC WAS DETECTED TO UTILIZE WITH REPEATABILITY VERIFICATION
Note
•  Recording can be facilitated using the screen capture function of the PC.
•  Record the freeze frame data/snap shot data.
Go to the next step.
2
INSPECT EXHAUST GAS PRESSURE SENSOR NO.1
•  Inspect exhaust gas pressure sensor No.1.
•  Is exhaust gas pressure sensor No.1 normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace exhaust gas pressure sensor No.1, then go to Step 8.
3
INSPECT MAP SENSOR NO.2
•  Is MAP sensor No.2 normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace MAP sensor No.2, then go to Step 8.
4
INSPECT COMPRESSOR BYPASS VALVE
•  Visually inspect the compressor bypass valve condition.
•  Is the compressor bypass valve disengaged?
Yes
Replace the turbocharger, then go to Step 8.
No
Go to the next step.
5
INSPECT SMALL-TYPE COMPRESSOR WHEEL
•  Open the compressor bypass valve and visually inspect the wheel condition from the intake air side.
•  Is the wheel deformed or damaged?
Yes
Replace the turbocharger, then go to Step 8.
No
Go to the next step.
6
INSPECT SMALL-TYPE TURBOCHARGER SHAFT AND BEARING
•  Open the compressor bypass valve and verify that the rotation of the compressor wheel is smooth using a long object (long rod) from the intake air side.
Caution
•  Do not apply excessive load. Otherwise, the compressor wheel could be damaged.
•  Is the part normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the turbocharger, then go to Step 8.
7
INSPECT THE EXHAUST SYSTEM FOR CLOGGING
•  Remove the diesel particulate filter.
•  Visually inspect the diesel particulate filter for condition.
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Replace the catalytic converter, then go to the next step.
No
A temporary malfunction can be considered due to freezing of the exhaust system.
Go to the next step.
8
VERIFY THAT REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED
•  Reconnect all the disconnected connectors.
•  Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS.
•  Drive the vehicle on flat roads under the following conditions
Warning
•  To prevent an accident, work with another person when the vehicle is being driven (one person drives vehicle, other person operates M-MDS).
•  Observe legal speed limits when driving the vehicle and perform the procedure in a location where safety can be assured.
1.  Display PID MAP_DSD and MAP using the M-MDS.
2.  Start the engine and warm it up.
3.  Accelerate in 2nd gear to 40 km/h.
4.  Accelerate in 2nd gear from 40 km/h to 55 km/h taking 5 s or more.
•  Perform the DTC Reading Procedure.
•  Has DTC P2262:00 been recorded?
Yes
Replace the vacuum pump, then go to the next step.
No
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the PCM, then go to the next step.
9
VERIFY OTHER DTCs
•  Has any other DTC or pending code been stored?
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
