EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5]

Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor No.1

Warning
•  A hot engine and exhaust system can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until they are cool before removing the exhaust system.
Caution
•  Perform exhaust gas temperature sensor removal/installation only when inspection or replacement is required, such as when DTCs for the sensor are displayed, because it may cause exhaust gas leaks.
•  If removal/installation is performed, always verify that there is no exhaust gas leak after reinstallation.

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

2.  Remove the following parts:

(1)  Engine cover (See ENGINE COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)
(2)  Fresh-air duct (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)
(3)  Air cleaner (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)
(4)  Battery and battery tray (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)
(5)  Air inlet pipe, air hose and turbocharger air inlet hose (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)
(6)  Turbocharger solenoid valve (See TURBOCHARGER SOLENOID VALVE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

3.  Disconnect the speed sensor assy connector of the turbocharger with variable turbine geometry.

4.  Remove the clip from the bracket.

5.  Remove the nut from the bracket and set the bracket aside in the direction of the arrow.

6.  Disconnect the exhaust gas temperature sensor No.1 connector.

7.  Remove the clip A from the bracket.

8.  Remove the clip B from the bracket.

9.  Remove the exhaust gas temperature sensor No.1 using the SST.

10.  Install in the reverse order of removal.


Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor No.2

Warning

•  Perform exhaust gas temperature sensor removal/installation only when inspection or replacement is required, such as when DTCs for the sensor are displayed, because it may cause exhaust gas leaks.
•  If removal/installation is performed, always verify that there is no exhaust gas leak after reinstallation.

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

2.  Remove the engine cover. (See ENGINE COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

3.  Disconnect the exhaust gas temperature sensor No.2 connector.

4.  Remove the clip A from the bracket.

5.  Remove the clip B from the bracket.

6.  Remove the exhaust gas temperature sensor No.2 using a commercially-available crowfoot wrench.

7.  Install in the reverse order of removal.


Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor No.3

Warning
•  A hot engine and exhaust system can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until they are cool before removing the exhaust system.
Caution
•  Do not allow flammable objects such as the taping for bundling wiring harness to come into contact with the catalytic converter.
•  Perform exhaust gas temperature sensor removal/installation only when inspection or replacement is required, such as when DTCs for the sensor are displayed, because it may cause exhaust gas leaks.
•  If removal/installation is performed, always verify that there is no exhaust gas leak after reinstallation.

1.  Turn the steering wheel to full right lock.

2.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

3.  Lift up the vehicle.

4.  Remove the front splash shield No.1 (RH). (See SPLASH SHIELD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

5.  Disconnect the exhaust gas temperature sensor No.3 connector.

6.  Remove the exhaust gas temperature sensor No.3 using a commercially-available crowfoot wrench.

7.  Install in the reverse order of removal.


Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor No.4

Warning

2.  Lift up the vehicle.

3.  Remove the plate (exhaust system). (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

4.  Remove the screws.

5.  Remove the clip.

6.  Remove the service hole cover (installed to front under cover No.2).

7.  Disconnect the exhaust gas temperature sensor No.4 connector.

8.  Remove the bolt and remove the clip from the bracket.

9.  Remove the exhaust gas temperature sensor No.4 using a commercially-available crowfoot wrench.

10.  Install in the reverse order of removal.
